Dispatcher

Position Summary:

Provide direct support for transportation operations with driver, customer service and all administrative functions.

Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
  • Leverage transportation applications to accurately record operational workflow and all business transactions
  • Ensure all planned routes during shift depart on time
  • Provide operational solutions to mitigate service failures and ensure on time delivery
  • Assist management team in developing driver communication, mentoring and situation resolution
  • Provide technical support and resolution for driver & truck technology
  • Act as backup for administrative staff while supporting various roles and shifts during PTO
  • Responsible for compliance with all DOT document retention standards
  • Provide phone support for drivers, customers, and routing team support
  • Assist with department projects and perform a variety of administrative tasks that support transportation operations


Required Education, Training, or Certification(s):
  • High School Diploma or equivalency

Required Experience and Skills:
  • Previous CDL Driving experience preferred
  • Training/Mentoring experience with CDL drivers
  • Working knowledge and ability to continue education of federal, state and local regulations related to transportation industry (DOT/FMCSA)
  • Previous experience in a transportation role or setting
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and ability to learn transportation management software
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and provide excellent customer service

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
  • Work a variety of hours (days, evenings, nights, weekends) up to 12 hours per day, variable days per week primarily in a professional office environment
  • Occasionally, work in a refrigerated environment with variable temperatures and exposure to dust, dirt, noise, material handling equipment, moving conveyors, and/or packaging machines
  • While performing the essential functions of this position, must regularly see, speak, and hear; frequently stand; walk; occasionally kneel and stoop; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines
